NOTHING TO WEAR

Have you ever looked into your closet and then said.. i have nothing to wear. You know that you have clothes to wear: hangers full of cute tops, at least 20 pairs of jeans, and shoes enough for you and fifty of your closest friends. I know I am guilty of grabbing whatever's newer and has gotten the least amount of wears.

Ladies, it is time to organize your closet!

Once you know what you have in your closet, you know what you have to wear. We are creatures of habit and will repeat things that we like. This habit ultimately leads us to buy more of the same!

1. Take a mental picture of the clothes that you already own and avoid purchasing similar looks.

2. Take a good hard look at your closet. Make two piles: one for keeps and one for items to toss. If you have clothes that have been sitting there for over a year and you haven't found the "right ocassion" to wear them to... it may be time to toss. Clothes that are damaged and do not fit you are to be tossed as well.

3. Organize your closet: Group like items together:

- Heavy winter jackets
- Light Weight Jackets
- Sweaters
- Hoodies
- Long Sleeve & 3/4 Sleeve shirts
- T-Shirts
- Dressy Tops & Button Down Shirts
- Dresses & Skirts
- Tank Tops: Dressy & Casual
- Jeans: Seperated by style - skinny jeans, flares, bootcuts, colors & washes
- Slacks & Dress Pants
- Shorts & Capris

Once you have everything broken down by styles, you will want to organize everything by colors.

4. Purchase cubbies or wire mesh cubbies to store you pants, t-shirts and shorts in. Avoid using drawers that don't allow you to see everything at first glance. Storing these items in open cubbies will let you easily see what you have to wear. Everything else should be hung on hangers.

5. The biggest thing to avoid is buying clothing because they are on sale. I love a good sale and I am one of the biggest bargain hunters. Ask yourself a few questions before you purchase an armload of sale items:

- Where will i wear this to?
- Will this compliment clothing that I already have?
- Do I have something like this already?
- Honestly, does this fit me?

Sale items are great, however, overpurchasing of sale items is just as bad. Just make sure you are purchasing pieces that you will wear ;)

6. When shopping, look for pieces that will compliment the items that you already have in your closet. Light weight jackets, cardigans and thin sweater cardigans are great pieces to compliment pieces that you may already have. Online shopping a good way to shop while having your closet right in front of you.

Avoid letting your inner pack rat come out ;)
